On March 6th, 2020, Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky and Governor Eric Holcomb of Indiana each declared a State of Emergency due to COVID-19. After the Declarations were announced, KIPDA began implementing plans and procedures to maintain services and protect the communities we serve in Clark & Floyd counties in Indiana; and, in Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham, Henry, Trimble, Spencer, and Shelby counties in Kentucky.
KIPDA is following the guidance of our states’ and nation’s top health leaders and taking measures to ensure we continue to support our rideshare participants. Information is provided below by transportation type in light of the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation. For additional COVID-19 information, including best practices, please see the CDC’s recommended guidelines.
KIPDA understands that some persons may temporarily opt out of ridesharing at this time and we fully support those individuals. However, some employees are still required to report to their physical work location due to the nature of their job. The KIPDA Every Commute Counts vanpool program will continue to provide services and support to those individuals and our communities.
We will continue to provide ridematching services for ridesharing through this website, via email request at email@example.com or telephone 502.267.5400 ext. 101 or ext. 104, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We understand that some people fill essential roles and need a reliable way to get to work, which happens to be through rideshare. We also offer the ability to log your commute no matter how you are getting to work these days, be it telework, shortened or compressed work week, bicycling, transit, walking, carpooling, or vanpooling as all of these are considered to be modern forms of ridesharing. We also want to emphasize the importance of social distancing, hand washing, and other related protocol in order to protect yourself and others.
For those teleworking, please don’t forget to register with us so you can log your commute. We recognize one person each month who logs at least four commutes with us that are not Single-Occupancy Vehicle (SOV) commutes. Telework offers the greatest benefit in terms of reducing greenhouse gases. For more information about teleworking, please see our teleworking info page. Please contact us at 502.267.5400 ext. 101 or ext. 104 with any question, or for assistance in getting your telework program up and going. To log your commute, please register with us here. There is no charge to register and log your commute.
For information about the steps the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) is taking related to COVID-19, please see TARC’s official response on their website.
If you have a carpool with us, but are not carpooling for the time being due to COVID-19, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can note that in our system. If you are continuing to carpool, please log your commute with us. To log your commute, please register with us here. There is no charge to register and log your commute.
Walking is a great way to commute and stay in shape. Again, don’t forget to log your commute, please register with us here. There is no charge to register and log your commute.
