What is the last mile?

For some people, the last mile is just an easy walk. For others, it’s a bit of a hike. Whatever the case for your commute, you may be able to close the gap with something other than a single-occupancy vehicle. And when you log those last miles through Every Commute Counts, you can enjoy added benefits, like gift card drawings.

While walking is a great option, there are other ways to travel the last mile. For example, in some parts of Louisville you could ride a shuttle bus, hop on a shareable bike, or zip to your destination on an electric scooter.

Louisville has hundreds of shareable bikes in and near downtown (including southern Indiana and the university campuses). Checking out a bike is quick and easy; you can use an app or check out from a kiosk. When you’re done, simply return the bike to its dock.

In addition, electric scooters from companies like Lime and Bird are popping up all over town. Because these scooters don’t have a “dock” (a home base), you use an app to find the closest available scooter. When you get to your destination, you just leave it for the next rider to scoot away.

So, if you’re interested in alternative commuting but your options come up a bit short, one of these services might be perfect for you. Simply register with us for the majority of the rideshare trip then connect with one of these last mile options to get where you need to go.
